MRI

MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a technique that allows images to be taken of different parts of the human body using a strong magnetic field (Magnet) through which radio waves pass.
MRI does not use X-rays like in radiology or CT scans.
Radiofrequency waves bring the hydrogen atoms contained in the body into resonance. When these radiofrequency waves stop, the atoms restore energy in the form of a signal which will be amplified, recorded, processed, and will result in the creation of a video image.
MRI allows images of the human body to be produced in all planes of space. The use of a magnetic field and radiofrequency waves requires some precautions to be taken and requires checking that there are no contraindications to performing this examination.

GENERALIST AND SPECIALIST RADIOLOGY

It was for a long time the only and main means of radiological investigation. Despite the development of more modern imaging means (ultrasound, scanner and MRI), it retains a central place in radiology and often remains essential in the first diagnostic approach and in follow-up.

It retains great diagnostic relevance when using contrast media. For example for the study of the joints (arthrography) or the uterus (hysterosalpingography).

The images are produced by x-rays which pass through the body and are projected onto x-ray film. The image produced is a kind of projection of the body on a plane.

The doses delivered during an examination are low and harmless to health.

The center has the new AGFA DXS scanning systems using new needle detectors that improve image quality and reduce doses by up to 40%.

Digitization has been a great progress because it has made it possible to reduce the X-ray doses and improve the quality of the images (post-processing after acquisition). It allowed the dissemination of images by computer and considerably changed work habits, which opened up the field of tele-radiology:

– Work on console (computer),
– Distribution of images on the local network of a hospital or clinic, or on the Internet.
